Hauls: Lipstick Cravings

I blame it on work- there is no time to go shopping nowadays. So naturally, I go crazy when I did find the time this week. I thought I lost all interest in makeup these few months. Boy was I wrong!

I also blame it on this video from one of my fave youtube makeup gurus- its an old one and she hasn't been making any new ones lately which is pretty sad......anyway to cheer myself up I thought I would buy the Lacvert lipstick in "Yuna Pink" and the lipgloss too in "Lovely Yuna". It looks like such a pretty colour! I had to have it!

In the meantime, while I wait for my purchases to come through the mail (its probably going to be two weeks!) and I am so impatient- so I went and bought the MAC Viva Glam -Lady Gaga Lipstick. Its a real pretty light blue pink. Surprisingly it is very tame kind of pink which is unlike Lady Gaga's adventurous makeup looks. Still- I love it!

While I was at the MAC Counter, I spotted the Spring Colour Forecast Collection. It's nothing special to me...but lately I have been wearing lots of golds and bronzes so I really like the Colour 4 eyeshadow palette. It's all I need for my daily makeup look.

Since I was on a roll, I bought my very first YSL Rouge Volupte Lipstick in no.1 (Nude Beige) and also the matching YSL Lipgloss. Oh, and I also had 6 empty Mac shadow pots and I exchanged them for a lippie in "Speed Dial".

Swatches: Top: Speed Dial and Bottom: YSL Rouge Volupte Nude Beige

The YSL Lipstick is very creamy- it literally just glides on! However- the colour does not suit me at all! Actually it makes me looks so washed out and tired. Maybe Nudes don't suit me- I need some colour! I guess I will have to buy another colour next time hehe:P Any suggestions???

Weekend Red Lips & Hairstyle

M.A.C Lady Danger

After my depotting frenzy, I managed to get a lot of empty MAC eyeshadow pots (Hurrah!) so I can go and swap 6 of them for a free lippie from MAC! I got myself a coral red lipstick M.A.C's Lady Danger and it's so vibrant! I tried it on straight away on the train back home and realised I still had my blue Shu Uemura gel liner on. My fiance said I looked like the Joker! haha!

So only wear red lipstick with very simple eye makeup- or you'll look like a clown:) Unless that's the look you want!
Here is Christina Aguilera with her signature red lipstick and blonde hair look. Classic but not boring!

How can I not mention Gwen? Queen of red lips!

I was looking at MAC's Rubywoo but I thought Lady Danger was more suited to my skin tone. Rubywoo is a gorgeous red lipstick too in a matte formula.

And the hairdo I tried out today is a copycat from a magazine. It's a hairdo straight from the runway by Carolina Herrera.

Here is a summarised steps on how to do the "Roll" from the mag:
Part your hair on the side and take the front section of the hair and twist it backwards into a thin roll, pinning your hair as you go. Repeat this on the other side of your head and then you tie your hair into a low pony or a bun. Doesn't have to be perfect!

Sorry you can't see my hair properly since my hair is so dark! But I did mine in a ponytail.

MAC Hello Kitty Paradisco Look

I played around with my Hello Kitty Palette from MAC-just for fun! This is the Paradisco look from the Hello Kitty collection. I love the paradisco colour:)

I didn't have the Milk pigment so I used my "Gold" one instead. Turned out to be a bit green in the inner corners!

For the lips I used "Straying" since I didn't have the "Big Bow" lipstick. And put "Mimmy" Lipgloss over the top.

MAC Style Black: A Toned Down Version!

I can't wait for the MAC Style Black collection to come out! I like the look they have in this ad (below) so I will attempt to do a toned-down version of it using what I have in my makeup stash! Wow! I don't think they even use eyeshadows- the colour is so dark and got a sheen to it. Maybe it's just liner all around the eyes? I dunno but it looks very vampy! I have to try the black nail varnish too:)

Firstly, I am not used to putting on sooo much eye makeup! It's scary! In the photos it might not look like much but I practically shovelled my eye makeup on! Beware- there is a lot of fallout when you don this type of look so I suggest doing your foundation last!

I don't know why- but this makeup brings out the weird in you! ahhaha Here are some scary funny faces- and no, I am not drunk! :P

here is a what I used for the eyes:
  • MAC E/Shadow: Carbon- lots of it!
  • MAC E/Shadow: Nehru & Cloudburst to add a bit of shading and shimmer
  • MAC E/Shadow Vapour to highlight brow bone
  • Bobbi Brown Gel Liner Black Ink
  • MUFE Smoky Lash Mascara

I put on foundation afterthe eye makeup- I used Korres Wild Rose Foundation. Finished it off with Benefit Dandelion. Add my fave lipgloss from KIT cosmetics- Dreamcatcher.
Warning: Another scary photo below...this is what I looked like when I used my Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil to take off all that black makeup! I had to use at least 4 pumps to really get my face clean! Looks ewww!

I'm enjoying experimenting with my pigments! Its a bit messy but it's fun anyway:)
Here is the Gold pigment which has a green tinge to it. I used it with my fave eyeshadow from MAC -"Satin Taupe" and a bit of "Sketch" in the outer corners. Not very heavy but it's a subtle smoky eye. Hope you like it!

  • Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in Expresso Ink
  • MAC E/S Satin Taupe, Sketch & All that Glitters

My HG's & Some Handy Beauty Tips

Blog Widget by LinkWithin

Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil: Can't live without this product! Cleans ALL my makeup off in one go and doesn't dry out the skin.
Rodial Glam Balm: I bought this on ebay since its from the UK and was recommended by the Youtube Gurus "Pixiwoo" and I love it! I put this on at night, every night and my skin feels so much smoother. I wish it wasn't so expensive!

Bobbi Brown Gel Liner:I can't live without this! I use it everyday and I want all the colours! It stays on all day and doesnt smudge. Easy to apply and lasts a loonnngg time.

Pink Blush: I love all kinds of pink blush but I have to say the best is the Benefit Dandelion. Just the right amount of shimmer and the most gorgeous pink colour!

Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation: I think Laura Mercier makes the best foundations and powders. I got this one in Medium Ivory and it's just so creamy! I find other types of foundations cake around my nose and lips so I need something creamy that I can just simply rub back into my skin during the day instead of powdering on top which makes it more cakey!

Laura Mercier Undercover Pot Concealer: The most convenient concealer around! One side is a more thicker consistency for concealing blemishes and the other is a creamier concealer for under the eyes. Under the two concealers is a powder! Genius I say! It'e better than MAC studio fix concealer by far!

MAKEUP FOR EVER Smoky Lash: I know I have been raving about all types of mascaras lately! But at this moment I am loving this one:) It gives my lashes length and volume and looks so dramatic! I have to buy another!

Applying Mascara:

Open yor mouth slightly when you apply your mascara. You feel like a goldfish but it will stop you from blinking and getting your mascara everywhere except your lashes!

Make Blush Stay on Longer:

Layer your blush! I put on a cream blush, then top with translucent powder and then layer with a powder blush.

Define Eyes Naturally:
Some people don't like the obvious line around the eyes so I suggest applying your liner very close to your lash line. You can use powder/pencil. I use my gel liner but the most natural will be powder but not as long lasting. Apply by pushing the colour into the lashes and smudging it slightly.

Removing Clumps from Lashes:

Hate the clumps after you applied your mascara? Just get one of the diposable mascara wands or a clean mascara wand brush and place it above your lashes and rotate the wand to brush out the clumps. Keep a finger under you lashes to catch any residue. Reapply mascara until you get the effect you want. If it still clumps- you need to chuck it!

Hide the Pimple/Scar:
The best concealer for pimples, blemishes and scars that are difficult to cover is the Dermablend cream concealer. But if you can get something that is a creamy, thicker consistency it should do the trick. You only need a small amount and just build till you get the cover you want. Firstly, put the product on the back of your hand and use a concealer brush to dab a small amount and push it into the skin rather than rub it in. Then set with powder. Repeat this process if you need more coverage.

MAC Angel Lippie

So I depotted some of my MAC eyeshadows into my small little palette of 8- I really need to get bigger palettes! But before I go on a depotting frenzy I just wanted to check if the local MAC store will still accept empty eyeshadow pots without the silver base in their Back2Mac program and get a free lippie:) Yay! They do! Double Yay! So now I have to set aside a day to do some serious depotting of all my MAC shadows and get some big palettes! Anyone know where to get some besides Coastal Scents?

Anyways, just sharing with you what lippie I got, it's quite a pretty colour in "Angel". I like it! I know lots of people love this colour so couldn't wait to get it:) Hmmmm...need to shake up my makeup a bit- looks the same in all my photos! :P

Here is a list of what products I used:

  • NARS Primer
  • SkinFood BB Cream
  • MAC Moisturecover concealer
  • Laura Mercier Mineral Loose Powder
  • MAC Paintpot Rose Fresco
  • MAC E/S Naked Lunch
  • MAC E/S Sketch
  • MAC E/S Satin Taupe
  • Rimmel Glam Eyes Mascara
  • Rimmel Dark Brown Eye Liner Pencil
  • Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in Expresso Ink

MAC NAKED HONEY COLLECTION

I had a quick look at the new Naked Honey Collection from MAC and was quite disappointed. Its a very small collection and nothing there that made me want to purchase straight away. The Highlight Powders looked very pretty with the honeycomb surface and it had a hint of shimmer but I saw that this shimmer is only the top layer. So it was quite ordinary. :-/

What did everyone else think?

My Favourite Beauty Items

Top left to right: Laura Mercier Undercover Pot-3, Benefit Brightening Face Powder "Dandelion", MAC's Mineralize Skin Finish "Soft & Gentle", Bobbi Brown's Gel Eyeliner "Black Ink",
Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream No.23, Covergirl's Lash Blast Mascara, Rimmel Glam Eyes Mascara, Benefit High Beam

The above items are all my fave at the moment. I use it nearly everyday! Here is a quick rundown on each of the items:

LM Undercover Pot: I was recommended this product by a girl from the LM counter when I went for my lil makeover session. She says its much better than the LM Secret Camouflage concealer (which I also have!) But I bought this anyway cos I'm a sucker when it comes to beauty products, if they say its good, I believe them! Anyway, she managed to cover all my blemishes and I was breaking out quite bad last week but she managed to make it look really natural. Even my fiance was impressed and he says it doesnt look like I had make up on! So I bought the foundation too (LM silk creme luminous foundation). I have to say they are both quite good products but I particularly like the undercover pot because its split into three sections. The top section has two concealers- one for under the eyes, its much more creamier, and the thicker concealer is for blemishes and scars etc. and the bottom half is a loose fitting powder for setting your concealer. Three in one-Genius!

Benefit Dandelion: This is my second purchase of this product and I have to say its a staple in my make up collection because it is such a beautiful, pretty pink colour with a hint of shimmer. It looks great on pale skins like me:) 10 by Benefit is also another great highlighter and its quite similar to....

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Soft & Gentle: I think all MAC Mineralize Finish products are really good but I resticted myself to one product (for now!) and its the "Soft & Gentle" skin finish which gives you a nice sheen for an all over shimmer look. I apply it after my blush and use it on my cheekbones and temples to give me a pretty "glow".

Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliners: I am addicted to these and its so easy to use especially for the cat eye effect and for tight lining. Actually, at first, I found it very awkward to use because I was a pencil eyeliner type of gal, but once you get used to it (with the right brush of course) its a breeze! I use a stiff flat brush (eg. MAC 212) but you can also use a small rounded tip brush or an angled brush. BB gel eyeliners come in other colours too!

Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream: I never heard of BB (Blemish Balm) Creams until Lindi from Bubzbeauty introduced it to all her fans! (She's the best!) I bought mine on ebay and it comes with samples too- yay! Anyway, its kinda like a foundation but it's also treats your skin at the same time. To be honest, I didnt see my skin get any better after two months of use but I still think its a great product because its not cakey like other foundations. The downside is, it comes in two colours only (21/23). I am a 23, so I am lucky it matches my skin tone. I will be trying out other types of BB creams after I finish with this one:)

Covergirl Lash Blash: The other mascara I really like is Covergirl's Lash Blast. The wand is HUGE! That means you get heaps of volume and length with this mascara, almost like a fake lashes effect. Highly recommend it. I find the waterproof version a bit dry so I prefer to get the normal version.

Rimmel Glam Eyes Mascara: I recently tried Rimmel's Glam Eyes mascara and so far so great! I like how it separates all my lashes and it lengthens quite a bit. The only thing I find a bit annoying is the wand itself, it can get a bit "bendy" so when I try to put the wand back into the tube I kinda slip and get it on my hands. Then again, I'm known to be a bit clumsy!:P

Benefit High Beam: This is a great highlighter for your cheekbones, temples, nose and forehead. You can mix a bit of this into your foundation so it gives a nice dewy, luminous finish. Its like a nail polish, but you use your fingers or a brush to apply.
