Beauty Experiments....

My first Chanel purchase- I was never really into the Chanel range...a bit boring and a tad too expensive for me. But I thought I would give their foundations a go this week. I bought the Pro Lumiere (for my shiny face) but it was recommended you go for the Vita Lumiere if you have dry skin.

Anyway I found it to be...OK only. I guess I am comparing it to Nars Sheer Glow and Laura Mercier Oil Free Hydrating Foundation- which are my favourites! Pro Lumiere is good but for the price I will still prefer the Nars or LM foundations. I wouldn't repurchase again.

I also bought a lipgloss/lipstick from Chanel (Rouge Allure Laquer no. 72) which is a really beautiful red colour. It is so bright red but it makes my teeth look super white! Even when it fades it gives a nice natural red stain at the end of the day. I like the wand applicator so it's very easy to apply straight onto the lips. The texture is very hydrating but not sticky. BEWARE- it still smudges so be extra careful of red teeth!

Lately my skin has been problematic- lumps, bumps and dry, flaky skin. Very annoying. Decided to try this sample pack -SKINFOOD's Black Sugar Mask. It smells like lemons and looks like brown sugar mixed with honey or something strange. Very course and I feel like it's going to irritate my skin even more and my skin felt tight. I had to apply a super moisturising cream afterwards. Rodium Glam Balm is my saviour! I recommend this to anyone- it's much better than the Egyptian Magic Cream.

Finally- I managed to dye my hair! My roots were so horrible. I tried Schwarzkopf Coloriste Hair Dye in Chocolate Brown. It ended up being more like a Jet Black! Pair it with my pale white skin- I kinda look like Morticia from the Adams Family! haha

Stay tuned for more beauty experiments..........

Foundations Review: Which is my pick?

These are some of my favourite bases in my makeup drawer at the moment. I rotate all of them around everyday depending on my mood or what coverage I need that day. I have no idea how I will finish all of them!

Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation

This is a great foundation with medium to full coverage. I wear this on days when my skin needs extra coverage. I don't usually need to apply concealer on top as the foundation itself is sufficient. It's a very creamy texture and doesn't feel heavy and cakey. I really like the formula and the colour suits my yellow based skin tone. I also tried a sample size of the Diorskin Nude foundation which is similar to this but I definitely prefer Laura Mercier!

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

I bought this based on rave reviews by many people on blogs and on youtube...yes I got sucked in! I had to buy it and try it for myself. It is very light and gives a nice dewy finish. I think the colour I got was too pale for me so I probably save it for winter. Other than that I think it's a very good foundation. If you like the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation- this is something you might want to try. Personally, I think Luminous Silk is better than BBrown because I like the extra covergae. Skin foundation was a bit sheerer which means it's only good for people with naturally good skin :( not me!  I haven't really found a good BBrown foundation yet.

Korres Wild Rose Foundation

Korres Wild Rose foundation is great for people with normal to dry skin....I have oily combination skin so this was a bit problematic for me later on in the day- I found the foundation starts to slide a bit around my nose and mouth (where there is a lot fo movement and oily areas!). However, on application I thought it was really easy to blend- but need to blend quickly before the foundation sets. I didn't need to powder after applying and it gives a nice satin finish. It contains natural ingredients that are good for your skin too!

Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream

Missha's BB Cream is the first BB Cream that I tried and it's still one of my favourites- but it only comes in two colours light and medium and they are both quite fair. So I wouldn't recommend it to people who have slightly tanned or dark skin. It might make you look ashy and grey. For me, it was a really good foundation as it gives good coverage, blends very nicely, long lasting and it supposed to be good for your skin too. I set it with my Laura Mercier Mineral Powder for a really flawless look. I didn't notice any effects on my skin- it's just a good foundation! Very cheap to buy too:)

Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturiser

For the days where I can't be bothered with heavy makeup- I use my Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser. It's so easy to apply and evens out my skin tone. It gives a very natural finish- barely there makeup look. Great formula and I also set it with my Mineral Powder to make it last longer. This is not something I would use on days when you need a bit of coverage- its doesn't last all day. A few hours and your face will need a touch up otherwise you look like you're glowing- and not in a good way! Good for lazy days:)

Laura Mercier Hydrating Liquid Foundation (Oil-Free)

I buy alot of Laura Mercier bases! I think her bases are one of the best so far:) This is the hydrating oil free liquid foundation which I bought specifically for my wedding day- it's still my choice for now. Similar to Korres Wild Rose Foundation where is gives a satin finish but it lasts longer on my skin. No sliding around like the Korres Wild Rose and the colour matches me perrrrfecctly! It's got no spf so it's good for photography. I also set this with my LM Mineral Powder so it gives a really flawless face. Comparable with Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk but LM gives a bit more coverage.

Laura Mercier Mineral Powder

I have to say something about this powder! It's one of my favourites! I use it practically everyday. I also use the MUFE High Definition Powder. LM Mineral Powder is great when you apply on top of your liquid foundation- it makes you pores smaller and smooths out your base and looks really natural. You can also use it on its own. The coverage depends on what brush you use to apply it. I use a Kabuki brush to buff it into my skin and it gives more coverage. If you want a lighter touch you can try using  a normal powder brush.

Which is my pick?

I have to say- Laura Mercier Hydrating Oil Free foundation!

I would like to know what you guys think. I still have to try out Nars Sheer Glow/ Matte Foundation? I heard great reviews on that so hopefully I can get it soon. I will do a review on it when I do:)

New PS3!

Yes! I finally got my hands on a PS3! I never thought I would own one since I have Xbox, Wii, PSP & DS and my fiance was saying I will never have time to play anyway so there was no point getting another console! But lucky for me some generous friends surprised me with it on my brithday and that's the sole reason for my lack of posts (especially beauty related posts!) these past few days :D

The surprise was a bit mean I thought- they originally got an empty PS3 box and filled it with magazines and then wrapped it all up and gave it to me in the morning. Boy was I so happy when I saw the box and then it all came spiralling down to a big disappointment when I found out it was all a big cruel joke! They let me suffer and sulk for another hour before they gave me the real thing- this time I checked it was the real thing! Such "kind' friends I have! ahaha

They gave me Ghostbusters but I wanted to play with Kenny so I went a got a 2 player game which I know he would like- Resident Evil. From my past experience this game is quite scary for a lil girl like me! :P But surprisingly this wasn't too scary- but I am still crap at aiming my guns! I never usually like these shooting games but its quite fun to play with another person rather than by yourself.

Obviously, I play the girl, Sheva. She kinda looks like a tough version of Jessica Alba? Kenny loves the muscles on the guy character! ahaha

Anyway so sorry to bore you guys about games! I did buy something beauty related too this weekend. I got a $10 voucher from Myers for my birthday so it was a good excuse to go shopping! Nice promotional trick to get weaklings like me to go on a spending spree- lucky Kenny was in a good mood and let me buy.....

Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation!

I've been wanting to try it as I really like the Silk Creme but I needed an oil free version for when I go to Malaysia. It's very good but my face still gets super shiny- it's probably because I put on moisturiser and then a primer and then the foundation. I usually skip the moisturiser since the primer does a good job already. But the LM lady says its crucial to moisturise before primer- so I did and it didn't work for me!

That's it for my very boring weekend...its back to killing zombies now! :P

Foundation Overhaul! I Need Help!

Over the last few months I've been literally collecting foundations in my search for the perfect one for my wedding. So here is the collection so far...these are liquid formulas which I prefer. I have powder and cream ones but they don't really work well for me. I like to use my fingers!

If you would like to hear some review or feedback on any of the foundation I have, please let me know! I am happy to help!

Now I am asking you which is your favourite foundation and which one you would recommend for weddings and photography? I would be eternally grateful for any suggestions:)

I bought this bikini (it's so pretty!) and I am not sure if I have the guts to wear it out in public! I am not the outdoorsy type and never have any type of exercise- I blame it on my work since its physically tiring already :P

I was planning to wear it for my Xmas & NYears holidays at the end of the year during my wedding....hmmm I have to tone up! hahaha

Maybelline Volum Express "Cat Eyes" Mascara & Diorskin Nude Foundation Review

I'm trying out my Maybelline Volum Express Mascara today- I got two as they have different effects. Today I am using the Feline Black Hypercurl Mascara "Cat Eyes" by Maybelline. Excuse my pimply skin- its that time of the month sigh* so annoying these pimples! The time I take to do my makeup in the mornings just doubled!

What do you think? I like the lengthening effect but it's quite clumpy after two coats and it kinda made my lashes stick together so I had to make use of the comb to separate them. So applying my mascara today took longer than usual. So no, I wouldn't repurchase again. If you like this type of mascara wand- I would recommend going for Rimmel Glam Eyes (It is much better!)

I will try the other mascara tomorrow: Maybelline Volum Express Hypercurl in very black- the wand is different, more bristles and quite big! I have a good feeling about this one:)

I also used my sample size Diorskin Nude Hydrating Foundation today. It's quite good- gives medium coverage which covers most blemishes but still need concealer, not cakey, very easy to blend and it gives a dewy finish. Personally for me, I still prefer my Laura Mercier Silk Creme- it blends a lil bit better than Dior. If your skin is oily then you should go for Diorskin. But for dry skin LM is better:) This is only my opinion from my own experience so you have to get some samples and try it out yourself! :)

My new brushes to add to my collection! Left to right: Sana's synthetic eyeshadow brush and a slanted blending/contouring brush. The last two are MAC brushes- 224 & 227. I was actually after the 138 brush but its sold out in the two places I visited in Malaysia- very sad......

And I'm going to end it with this video from Kandee: Jem Makeup!
I used to watch this cartoon....long long time ago! I thought it was the coolest thing ever and I'm so happy she did this look! Reminds me of my younger years! ahaha Kandee- what can I say? She's hilarious!

Review: Korres Wild Rose Foundation

Yay! I get to use my new Korres Wild Rose foundation today before I head out for work. I am still suffering from bruises all over my body and a huge blister on my feet kept awake all night! But I woke up this morning with a smile because I got something new to try :P

I use the colour in WRF2 and I started by applying with my stippling brush but its very difficult to apply since this foundation dries very quickly. So I changed and used my fingers instead. The liquid was easy to blend with fingers and the finish was really smooth, matte and not cakey! Which is what I wanted! This product goes well on its own and I didn't even need to powder my face which I usually do with my BB creams. So this is great! I love it so far and now I just have to see if it makes me break out! I hope not :( Just make sure you blend really well as it will leave tell tale streaks especially around the jawline and around the nose.

Have a great day everyone! I have to catch the train to work now- I'll go earlier today since I will hobbling along to the train on my blistered feet!
