Dry Flaky Winter Skin

I am suffering from really bad dry, patchy, blotchy, flaky, itchy and lumpy skin this whole month. It has been getting me down! Here is a pic my husband took recently- me with no makeup! You can't tell but my skin is terrible! I envy my baby's plump, smooth & perfectly soft baby skin!

I have been relying on Laura Mercier's Silk Creme foundation which totally covers all my imperfections and make my skin look much better. I dare not leave the house without it on! Desperately looking for a good winter skin moisturiser right now...any suggestions?

My favourite brekky at the moment- Avocadoes with feta and tomatoes on top of freshly baked bread! Yum!

Countdown to Xmas!

This has been the longest I have gone without blogging- so many things happening this year and kept me busy busy busy! eg. Getting pregnant and turning the BIG 30! And the baby is due in 3 months time which means I have been pretty busy getting ready to welcome the little one into our home. Lots of shopping- mainly baby stuff- no beauty products for me for the longest time.....until now! I just could not help myself! I resisted all collections from MAC and even stopped buying any makeup whatsoever and I was so proud of myself. haha

Shu Uemura has come out with a gorgeous Xmas collection- "Abracadabra Fantasy" and I gave myself a really early present this year! :P I think I deserve a litlle gift for being so good all these months......

I got this cute blush tint in miracle cherry- can't wait to try this!

The Reindeer Kiss palette and the cleansing oil (which I didn't see at the counter when I was there)

and the Bowwow Magic Queen palette. I couldn't choose between the two so I bought both. When you see the packaging and the colours you just fall in love!

I also grabbed the harmony pink lip duo tint- my favourite colour if you didn't notice :)

I like the love apricot but again, they didn't have this when I was at the counter which may be a good thing- its not cheap these products from Shu Uemura. At least you get get a free makeup bag for your purchases over $200- so adorable!

Honestly, the packaging really sucks you in- I still have to try the products itself but they look so pretty I can't seem to touch it! However the pencil liners look really cheap and comes in colours like pink, purple and baby blue which are very nice but not worth money in my opinion. Anyways check it out- I predict it's going to be sold out very quick:)

Below is a short commercial of the collection- the song is so catchy!

Here is some happy snaps from our honeymoon trip to Japan......

My Dumbo.....hahhaa

Dranks lots of green tea but had to miss out on all that sashimi and sushi (I was 4 months preggers already- boo hoo!)

The biggest slice of watermelon I ever saw (and ate!) but it was yummy!

Lazy Winter

Winter blues are getting me down and very very lazy.......I miss the hot summer days! My appetite also is disappearing- nothing is appealing anymore which makes me even more sad :(

At least I can use makeup to make me look a bit more cheerful! Just want to share what I have been using these days when I feel extremely lazy. Especially in the mornings when I stay in my warm cozy bed an extra 10 minutes which of course cuts into my "getting ready" time.

Firstly, I apply my Hourglass Veil mineral primer- this is the best primer I have used so far. If you like Smashbox photo finish primer (they both give a similar velvetly finish) then you would really love this product.

I have gone back to using my BB creams (I finished with my beloved Laura Mercier Liquid foundation) and I personally think they blend easier than any foundation and it's so foolproof - kinda like a tinted moisturiser.  I've been using Skinfood Gingko Green BB Cream- which is my colour and blends really well into my skin. I even got a stranger complimenting on my porcelain complexion- which I never ever receive using other foundations! However, BB creams are notoriously hard to skin colour match especially for tanned to darker skins- not fair I know! Also they do tend to be oilier so avoid this in summer or if you are prone to a shiny skin.

I also redisccovered my old favourite concealer- Lancome's Effacernes Longue Tenue (how do you pronounce this?!?) Anyway it just works well with the BB Cream and it lasts all day.

And to add a bit of cheeriness into my sallow complexion I've been using Benefit's Posie Tint which is a very pretty pink stain. Benetint is more rosy so this is a bit more girly. It gives a very light finish without the heaviness of powder or cream (ideal for hot summers!) I also use this on my lips- looks very natural and lasts longer than lipgloss:)

Last but not least, this Sephora colourful duo eyeshadow No. 9 is a very flattering colour for dark or brown eyes- I use the lilac on my lids and the darker dirty plum to line the upper lash line and the lower lash line. It looks so much better than plain old brown! Try it:)

Anyone has any lazy winter tips please share!

Beauty Experiments....

My first Chanel purchase- I was never really into the Chanel range...a bit boring and a tad too expensive for me. But I thought I would give their foundations a go this week. I bought the Pro Lumiere (for my shiny face) but it was recommended you go for the Vita Lumiere if you have dry skin.

Anyway I found it to be...OK only. I guess I am comparing it to Nars Sheer Glow and Laura Mercier Oil Free Hydrating Foundation- which are my favourites! Pro Lumiere is good but for the price I will still prefer the Nars or LM foundations. I wouldn't repurchase again.

I also bought a lipgloss/lipstick from Chanel (Rouge Allure Laquer no. 72) which is a really beautiful red colour. It is so bright red but it makes my teeth look super white! Even when it fades it gives a nice natural red stain at the end of the day. I like the wand applicator so it's very easy to apply straight onto the lips. The texture is very hydrating but not sticky. BEWARE- it still smudges so be extra careful of red teeth!

Lately my skin has been problematic- lumps, bumps and dry, flaky skin. Very annoying. Decided to try this sample pack -SKINFOOD's Black Sugar Mask. It smells like lemons and looks like brown sugar mixed with honey or something strange. Very course and I feel like it's going to irritate my skin even more and my skin felt tight. I had to apply a super moisturising cream afterwards. Rodium Glam Balm is my saviour! I recommend this to anyone- it's much better than the Egyptian Magic Cream.

Finally- I managed to dye my hair! My roots were so horrible. I tried Schwarzkopf Coloriste Hair Dye in Chocolate Brown. It ended up being more like a Jet Black! Pair it with my pale white skin- I kinda look like Morticia from the Adams Family! haha

Stay tuned for more beauty experiments..........

My Head is Full Of Alice!

Right now, everything in my life is just weddings wedding weddings. I will be so glad when it is all over. I know it sounds really bad- it isn't really haha but I am tired of planning. I just want the day to come quickly because I am excited and can't wait to get married now. I think a year of planning is wayyy too long.

I am dreaming about Alice in Wonderland nearly every night! It's crazy! ahha I even watched the cartoon just get ideas for my stationery and cupcakes etc etc. No wonder! :P

Alice in Wonderland movie is coming out next year and it looks very different from the Disney version! Tim Burton style! I think it might be a bit scary? ahha for kids anyway. I was scared when I first watched the cartoon- yeah I know....I am a wuss:)

The characters look great- although I am not sure why is there a White Queen and a Red Queen? Isn't there only supposed to be a Queen of Hearts? Maybe I didn't do enough reseach!! haha No thanks- I am Aliced out!

Off topic- I used my French & Fabulous Palette again. This time I used the "Poodle Puff Raisin & Poodle Puff Pink". Love the names! hehe

Also tried the Revlon Colourstay Liquid Liner instead of the usual BBrown Gel Liner. I must say- the black is very intense and the little ink pot is easy to use and not messy at all. I am using the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation which is too light for me. I thought I picked up my Laura Mercier Foundation- they look very similar!

Something I've been snacking on- it's a Korean version of "Hello Panda" but not as tasty!

Yummy sushi from Yoshiya in Perth! It's my fave Japanese restaurant at the moment. Everything tasted yummy!

I know majority of the people who commented on the Lash Injection Vs Smoky Lash (previous post) have picked the Lash Injection as the preferred mascara. But....I am still in love with my MUFE Smoky Lash? I soooooo miss it! It's too bad they don't sell it here in Perth. :(

Here is what Fatinexx had to say about it- she loves it too:)

Origins "A Perfect World" Body Cream

A friend gave this as a gift- and I really love it! So does my fiance! Usually he hates any type of body cream smell. Even my hand cream smells funny to him....so hard to please. Finally I road test the Origin's Body Cream (A Perfect World- with white tea) and he actually likes the smell. So I am extremely happy that I can finally moisturise my body without offending his nose:)

It's not only my fiance that hates scented creams....all the guys at work all hate my hand cream that I use at work. (Mecca Cosmetica's Hand Glove Cream On-The-Go) They all run away from me when I apply it on! hahah It's not really a great scent but I guess it smells a bit unusual. Oh well. It cost me $40 so I'm going to use it but I won't be buying it again- even though it is a great hand cream!

Back on topic, the Origin's Body cream is quite a thick consistency but not at all greasy. It's super rich and can be used anywhere on your body. I use it as a hand cream too. The smell isn't overpowering and smells divine.....like tea! ahahha I love my teas so I don't mind it:)

Here is a pic of the guy I am planning to marry....Mr. Funkiimonkee! The lil girl is going..."Why?!!! Are you sure??!!"

Acutally these two lil girls are going to be my flower girls. My fiance's two nieces:) Aren't they cute?

Update!

Still moving house and unpacking things here and there! I feel crippled without any internet  for more than a week now! Right now I am using the free internet at Exomod- a coffee place in the city. Quite a funky place to hang out. I am liking the Buddha Tears tea but not liking the price @ $8.95!

I just got my wedding invitations in the mail and it looks great! Now the tedious task of giving them out. Luckily, not many people on my guest list so it should be quite easy! Will take pics once I get them done tonight:)

I am so looking forward to Xmas and New Years! I know its early but I need a break!

It's Sizzling!

Just a quick update...I've been so busy lately! Long time no post!

Been eating out alot lately- absolutely no time to cook at home. I tried "Sizzle Mania" tonight. Everything is served on a hot plate- something a bit diffrerent. We ordered the Pepper Steak (below) which was the Chef's recommendation and it came out pretty quick! The waitress showed us how its done- smear the butter all over the steak  and just flip it over and cook to your liking.

The other one I tried is the Curry Chicken- I think Japanese curry would taste better but this is quite nice as well.

We also ordered gyoza- it was cooked just right:) but they served it with sweet chilli...? I'm used to my vinegar sauce but it was still delicious!

Lastly, I would like to share with you my favourite dessert- chocolate fondant with ice cream...this one was from Allure @ Burswood Intercontinental Hotel. It takes 20 mins to make but it is worth the wait. Yummmy!

And another random mention on one of my fave eyeshadows from Shu Uemura. It doesn't have a name so I will show you the colour below and the code for it. (ME Beige 800)

Can't see it very well but I like to put it on as a highlighter (inner corners and brow bone)

It's a very pretty colour for day!

Next few days I will be packing and cleaning- (moving to an apartment) so I will be busy busy! It's no fun- especially when you are moving to an even smaller space- with a smaller wardrobe. Honestly, it's a nightmare! I am loving Spacebags right now! ahaha

Natural Makeup Inspired by Korean Dramas

This isn't the natural look I am going for! haha...but it certainly is a very cute doggy look! So adorable isn't he? Just like a lil teddy bear:)

Been very busy of late and don't really have the time to muck around with my makeup- maybe its just me being lazy too! I have been watching the korean drama "Boys Over Flowers" and its a bit corny but makes me laugh- especially the way the F4 guys dress and act! They are all very cute though- I can understand why girls go crazy over this series. Very entertaining...I am still on the 3 episode. It's been around for ages....but I am slow to catch on.

I really like how the korean girls put on their makeup! Very natural looking so that's what I have been doing with my makeup recently. It's been so hot these couple of days so this is what I use:
  • Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser (oil free)
  • Laura Mercier Mineral Powder (Natural Beige)
  • Bobbi Brown Concealer
  • Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in Black Ink
  • MAC E/Shadow Jest
  • MUFE Smoky Lash
  • MAC Cream Blush Posey
  • MUFE HD Powder
  • Bobbi Brown Blush "Nectar"
  • MAC HK Lipgloss "Mimmy"
I have been layering my blush to make it last longer. The trick is the apply your cream blush after your foundation -before you powder your whole face. Otherwise the cream will be patchy and blotchy if you apply over the powder. After the cream blush, you apply a layer of translucent powder (I used MUFE HD powder- love this!) and then finish it off with another layer of powder blush. It should last longer!

My Birthday Celebration- Again!

I know I said it was my birthday a few days ago- that was an early celebration with my sister since she was too busy to see me on my bday.
On the actual day, I was totally spoiled...although there were some troubles at work..I was still happy anyway:)
Here is a cake from Kenny's family...very pretty colours!

One candle only :P I am too old now to fit all the candles on the cake!

Kenny made me ramen for breakfast which I chowed down pretty quick! Very Yummy!

For dinner Kenny's Mum made some Bakuteh- sooooo yummy. She is the best cook ever! Lots of quail eggs too- my favourite!

After we went to the Il Divo concert. I really like Carlos- the flirtatious one and also the American-he was funny:) Beautiful voices! But I think Kenny found it a bit boring as you can see.....haha He nearly fell alseep!
