Foundation Overhaul! I Need Help!

Over the last few months I've been literally collecting foundations in my search for the perfect one for my wedding. So here is the collection so far...these are liquid formulas which I prefer. I have powder and cream ones but they don't really work well for me. I like to use my fingers!

If you would like to hear some review or feedback on any of the foundation I have, please let me know! I am happy to help!

Now I am asking you which is your favourite foundation and which one you would recommend for weddings and photography? I would be eternally grateful for any suggestions:)

I bought this bikini (it's so pretty!) and I am not sure if I have the guts to wear it out in public! I am not the outdoorsy type and never have any type of exercise- I blame it on my work since its physically tiring already :P

I was planning to wear it for my Xmas & NYears holidays at the end of the year during my wedding....hmmm I have to tone up! hahaha

wow, that is a lot of foundations!! nice work!! haha

I think the most important thing to keep in mind if you're going to be photographed is to not use a foundation with SPF. I've worn SPF-infused foundations at events before, and when I saw the pictures of myself with a odd white-cast, I got really mad :(

MAC makes a good one, called the face and body foundation. Also, Michelle Phan did a awesome tutorial specifically for these kinds of events (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-joBOHlg5J0 ). She uses the MAC foundation I mentioned in it :)

Hope that helped !! :)

Hey, I did my own make up on my wedding day and gone through the same stage as you bought absolutely everything, I wanted coverage, long lasting power, so I picked a 2 way cake instead of liquid foundations. Only because 2 way cakes are easier to build on coverage and also very easy to carry around for touch up as loose powder might go everywhere on your white dress.

If you did give 2 way cake a try let me know which one you picked. :)

I've been hearing many good things about the new NARS sheer glow foundation. I ordered mine a little while ago and it should be arriving this week. I'll probably do a review on it after using it for a while. :)

Lina: Thanks for the link:)Do you need to be a Pro member to get Face & Body foundation?

S.Dumpling: I haven't tried a two way cake before- what is that? Can you recommend one for me to buy?

Milk & Cookie: I want Nars Sheer glow too! I am hoping I will get it from my fiance:) hehe

Eminmonster: I am on the second chapter but I have been so tired lately and haven't read it for a week now so I have lost track of the story....I have to read from the beginning again! But it seems like a very good story. I love how he keeps the suspense.

I like to use studio stick foundation when I know we will be taking a lot of flash photography. This is medium to full coverage and hide everything and make me look flawless. But some people cannot handle this because it is heavy and they broke out. I don't use this everyday, only for special occasion. And my skin can handle that.
Hope you find the perfect foundation for your wedding. Congrats!! :)

I think you should try makeupforever hd foundation. It's really good and the only thing is to just make sure you get the RIGHT shade and you'll look fabulous for your wedding ^_^

i have very dry skin so most foundations make my skin looks flaky. lately i tried REVLON BEYOND NATURAL™ SMOOTHING PRIMER and revlon mineral mousse makeup together and it's been working out pretty well!

good luck with your search!

that is a very cute bikini too :)

Cute bikini!

No help on the foundation as all I've ever worn is BE and EDM (and BE made me itchy =/ but I think they both contain spfs which may make reflect badly under flash photography) but good luck!!

I know the face & body foundation is waterproof, and MUAs use it for photography and weddings! i have it and i looooove it, it just makes you look perfect without heavyness!

MUFE HD Foundation is perfect for photography!! I also recommend using their primer underneath. If you live near a Sephora, drop by and have them color match you. Ask for sample of both -primer/foundation- to see how you like it. <3

Lina said...

Nope! You don't need a MAC pro membership to get that Face & Body foundation :)You can get samples from them too, that's what I do. Just in case!! hehe

To everyone who recommended MUFE HD, it's not available in Australia. There's no Sephora here :(

Anyway I can see you've tried what I was going to recommend. Maybe try a sample of the NARS sheer Matte, i've only tried the Sheer glow but you don't want something too dewy. Go to Mecca (if you have one in Perth?).

i love mac overall for foundations. idk maybe it's just me but i haven't had any breakouts or anything like that. good luck though on the search for a perfect foundation. i'm trying to use all mine up so i can try a new brand, lol

hi Shelley,

you know i would say NARS Sheer Matte so you have more liberty on where to apply the "glow" part using highlighters BUT i would say try on the Sheer glow coz you have normal skin :)

That's my HG for now. I am getting a MUFE HD foundation when i go for my holiday just to try it out :)

but i hope you find your foundation sooon :)

Still waiting for my present! ahah maybe I should just get it myself! I too want to get the MUFE HD foundation when I go to Singapore next month. hehe Sephora....Hmmm I forgot where it was located! haha

Hello my dear, I am actually a wedding photographer on weekends and I'd recommend something that will keep you matte for as long as possible. And, have one of your bridesmaids carry powder for you if you are concerned about getting oily.

Other than that, there really is no difference between what brand of foundation a bride wears. Just something that matches your skin tone and keeps you oil free!

hahaha I'md oing the same thing as you! although my shortlist is much shorter.. I am currently deciding between Utowa cream foundation (for its amazing coverage yet dewy finish) and Shu Uemura cream foundation which I bought in China. Haven't tried it yet. I find liquid too sheer.. I'm going as far as choosing the entire makeup!! from eyes, cheeks, lips and all, in case I have to do it myself.

DONT, use mufe hd if you are going to be taking photos. its not designed for photos, its designed for film, the light reflecting particles of the foundation make it a bad candidate for flash photography. I know it-doesnt-have-spf! but its formula is bad for photography. It gives you a halo look, which is nice for lolsy internetz photos, but will look weird and standout in wedding photos.
