Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser Review

I finally got to try my LM Tinted Moisturiser but was so disappointed it didn't work out for me:( Firstly, it was too sheer for me and after rubbing a few times over my skin, I was left with some residue.(Kind of like a peeling effect you get with some peeling scrubs?) Also, I had a few dry patches on my skin where my pimples were starting to heal and the product just sank right into the cracks making my blemishes even more visible. Not a good look!

In conclusion, I don't think I can use this unless I have perfect, flawless skin (90% of the time I don't!) I was so upset that I couldn't really use this on an everyday basis so I decided to try it out on my mum. She has really nice skin for a 58 year old and it just glided over her skin. I was so envious but happy that someone can use it given the price tag on this product. My mum's skin was glowing and luminous and she absolutely loved it! So of course, I gave it to her to use:)

So that was a happy ending for my mum at least!

Tips For Asian Eye Makeup

Asian eyes are different from those of western origins so we need to approach it differently when we apply our makeup. Asian eyes look great with eyeliner and we need lengthening mascaras and false lashes because our lashes tend to grow straight down! So we need to be experts with our eyelash curlers!

In most cases, our main goal is to enlarge the eyes. When we look at most advertisements and magazines in Asia, the most popular makeup look is natural, natural, natural. Although this is a very flattering look for most asians, I find that the use of colours can also work just as well and in some cases it can totally transform the look.

So here are some tips:

  • Be sure to have an eyelash curler!
  • Falsh eyelashes is one of your must-have items
  • Eyelash extensions are great for a natural look and it makes a huge difference!
  • Always groom your brows
  • Graduating your eye makeup from your eyelash line to your brows will help to give your eyes more depth. You should use the darkest shade along your eyelash line fade this into lighter shades of color nearer your eyebrow. Make sure you put a highlighter colour on your brow bone.
  • For a dramatic look, try using shades of purple or plum. That will make your eyes really pop!
  • Highlight the inner corners of your eyes with a light shimmery colour. I like to use "Goldmine" from MAC.

Hope this helps and feel free to leave any more tips you may have! I would love to learn some more tricks!

Michael Jackson Died?!!

I am still in shock! I heard the news first thing in the morning on the radio. I was on my way to work and was running so late because of the bad stormy weather in Perth and there was a major traffic jam due to a few car accidents on the road. It wasn't a great start to the day and I was feeling a bit depressed because I will never get to go to one of his concerts! He did come to Perth once when I was in Year 11 and I couldn't go because I had an exam the next day. One of my friends went anyway and skipped a day of intensive studying because you know, its MICHAEL JACKSON! So I am soooo regretting it right now. It just teaches me to really live life and you just never know what will happen. Carpe Diem!

Anyway, I am listening to all his songs and reliving my childhood in the 80's. My favourite song is "Smooth Criminal" and he also had a game based on that! It was pretty fun too:)

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser

I finally got my hands on the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser (Oil Free Version) in "Nude" and I can't wait to try it out. I hear lots of great reviews on this product:) In addition , I thought I will try the St. Tropez Whipped Bronze self tanning mousse. Its meant to give your face a nice glow and since my skin is a bit lighter than the rest of my body, I thought this would even things out and then I will follow with my foundation. I just hope I won't end up looking like an oompa loopa since I am quite fair! Hope it works out and will let you know the results later!

Fave Books & Books I am Reading Now

A friend of mine has recently asked me what books I am currently reading but I've actually been too busy lately to read much. The only time I have is before I go to bed at night but its hard to read more than a chapter if I am totally exhausted. But right now I am reading a big volume of Janes Austen's Books. I finished "Pride & Prejudice" and now I am reading "Emma". I was just looking for a really good romance novel but had to settle with this till I find a good one.

Here is a list of some of my favourites:
The Kite Runner, My Sister's Keeper, The Lovely Bones, Like Water for Chocolate and Time Travellers Wife, Boy in the Striped Pajamas and Slumdog Millionaire.

That's just from the top of my head! I also love reading fantasy genres and I remember spending my entire summer holidays in Malaysia reading the Belgariad Series by David Eddings.

I went crazy over "Twilight" and its still on the top of my favourites list simply because I LOVE EDWARD! I wish he was real! LOL! I know, its lame! But it kinda anticlimaxed after Bella turned into a vampire but I still loveeee the first book. Its every girl's fantasy! If you dont love edward, there is something seriously wrong with you! ahha

And of course, I loved the Harry Potter Series....I was obsessed! I woke up early on a saturday (something I never do) to go buy the last book when it came out and I was drenched from the rain but I didnt care! I was actually feeling depressed when I read that Dumbledore died! boo hoo:(

So anyway, right now I have nothing to obsess over....hmmm actually, Transformers 2 is coming out this week! Really looking forward to it since the first movie was really good.

In desperate need of a new vanity desk!

I wish I can get a BIG vanity table for my room because the one I am using right now is so not practical! I have to make do with a crappy old table that my fiance picked up at his university because he has banned me from buying any furniture until our new house is ready. And it is way too small. I keep dropping things on the floor because things just simply roll off the table or I knock it off trying to get something. I also have an outdoor garden fold up chair to match! Lol! I have to put a pillow on it to prop myself up a bit higher to see my face in the mirror! I even fell off the chair once because its a folding chair so if you slide backwards the legs just fold. Something I learned the hard way!

So yes, its a war with my chair and table every morning. My fiance keeps telling me to put up with it for another year....(that's too long!) You see in the picture I have those stacker drawers to put all my stuff in, and it looks like they're going to break!

Anyway, I just wanted to vent my frustrations:/ I guess I'm lucky that I'm not banned from buying other things! (make up & games!) hehe :P

My Favourite Beauty Items

Top left to right: Laura Mercier Undercover Pot-3, Benefit Brightening Face Powder "Dandelion", MAC's Mineralize Skin Finish "Soft & Gentle", Bobbi Brown's Gel Eyeliner "Black Ink",
Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream No.23, Covergirl's Lash Blast Mascara, Rimmel Glam Eyes Mascara, Benefit High Beam

The above items are all my fave at the moment. I use it nearly everyday! Here is a quick rundown on each of the items:

LM Undercover Pot: I was recommended this product by a girl from the LM counter when I went for my lil makeover session. She says its much better than the LM Secret Camouflage concealer (which I also have!) But I bought this anyway cos I'm a sucker when it comes to beauty products, if they say its good, I believe them! Anyway, she managed to cover all my blemishes and I was breaking out quite bad last week but she managed to make it look really natural. Even my fiance was impressed and he says it doesnt look like I had make up on! So I bought the foundation too (LM silk creme luminous foundation). I have to say they are both quite good products but I particularly like the undercover pot because its split into three sections. The top section has two concealers- one for under the eyes, its much more creamier, and the thicker concealer is for blemishes and scars etc. and the bottom half is a loose fitting powder for setting your concealer. Three in one-Genius!

Benefit Dandelion: This is my second purchase of this product and I have to say its a staple in my make up collection because it is such a beautiful, pretty pink colour with a hint of shimmer. It looks great on pale skins like me:) 10 by Benefit is also another great highlighter and its quite similar to....

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Soft & Gentle: I think all MAC Mineralize Finish products are really good but I resticted myself to one product (for now!) and its the "Soft & Gentle" skin finish which gives you a nice sheen for an all over shimmer look. I apply it after my blush and use it on my cheekbones and temples to give me a pretty "glow".

Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliners: I am addicted to these and its so easy to use especially for the cat eye effect and for tight lining. Actually, at first, I found it very awkward to use because I was a pencil eyeliner type of gal, but once you get used to it (with the right brush of course) its a breeze! I use a stiff flat brush (eg. MAC 212) but you can also use a small rounded tip brush or an angled brush. BB gel eyeliners come in other colours too!

Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream: I never heard of BB (Blemish Balm) Creams until Lindi from Bubzbeauty introduced it to all her fans! (She's the best!) I bought mine on ebay and it comes with samples too- yay! Anyway, its kinda like a foundation but it's also treats your skin at the same time. To be honest, I didnt see my skin get any better after two months of use but I still think its a great product because its not cakey like other foundations. The downside is, it comes in two colours only (21/23). I am a 23, so I am lucky it matches my skin tone. I will be trying out other types of BB creams after I finish with this one:)

Covergirl Lash Blash: The other mascara I really like is Covergirl's Lash Blast. The wand is HUGE! That means you get heaps of volume and length with this mascara, almost like a fake lashes effect. Highly recommend it. I find the waterproof version a bit dry so I prefer to get the normal version.

Rimmel Glam Eyes Mascara: I recently tried Rimmel's Glam Eyes mascara and so far so great! I like how it separates all my lashes and it lengthens quite a bit. The only thing I find a bit annoying is the wand itself, it can get a bit "bendy" so when I try to put the wand back into the tube I kinda slip and get it on my hands. Then again, I'm known to be a bit clumsy!:P

Benefit High Beam: This is a great highlighter for your cheekbones, temples, nose and forehead. You can mix a bit of this into your foundation so it gives a nice dewy, luminous finish. Its like a nail polish, but you use your fingers or a brush to apply.

Hi everyone! I am finally going to do a beauty blog. I have bought so much make up and beauty items over the last few months and it will take me forever to go thru it all! Not much of a beauty sleep:(
